Invercargill City Big Band

The Invercargill City Big Band (ICBB, formerly named The Crazy Rhythm Big Band) is a Southland music institution, with a performance profile spanning over four decades of festivals and concerts in Southland and throughout the South Island.

The ICBB’s current musical director is saxophonist, clarinettist, and teacher, Emma Jarman.

Originally, the band only had a small number of arrangements in their library but it has now accumulated more than 500 charts. The band’s repertoire ranges from classic jazz numbers such as Autumn Leaves, In the Mood, Summertime, At Last, Fly Me to the Moon, and Sweet Georgia Brown; through to modern numbers arranged for Big Band, including Respect, Cantina Band, Funkytown, Lady Madonna, Superstition, Thriller, and Tears in Heaven.

Recent gigs include performances at The Relay for Life, Southland Festival of the Arts, The Invercargill Workingmen's Club, and The Gore Rhododendron Festival.

Special Thanks

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my school, Southern Institute of Technology Audio Department for providing such professional spaces and equipment for students and enabling us to be industry-ready;
Our Programme Manager/my supervisor of this project, Doug Heath, for supervising and giving me a lot of constructive advices throughout the project;
Three main people from three different ensemble groups: Emma Jarman (ICBB), Lewis Thompson (Vibratsiya) and Sarah Rae (Femme). They have been extremely accommodating and highly cooperative throughout the recording sessions. Without them, it wouldn't have been possible for me to create this album.
Last but not least, my two studio assistants: Liam O'Brien and Anthony Wilson. You guys have been such amazing classmates/friends and you two were always there whenever I needed, and gave me a lot of physical help as well as technical. I couldn't have done this without both of you.
Thank you for whoever is listening to this album; reading this website, I hope you enjoy it.
